Ingredients
- - 6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- - 3/4 cup white sugar
- - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- - 1/4 teaspoon salt
- - 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- - 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- - 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- - 1/2 teaspoon salt
- - 6-8 tablespoons ice water
Directions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and flour. Toss until apples are evenly coated and set aside.
- 3. To make the pie crust, mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough holds together.
- 4. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 5. Roll out one disk of dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie dish. Place the rolled-out dough into the pie dish.
- 6. Place the apple filling into the crust.
- 7. Roll out the second disk of dough and place it over the filling. Seal and crimp the edges.
- 8. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- 9. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- 10. Allow the pie to cool before serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade apple pie!
