Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons shortening
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. 2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. 3. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. 4. Gradually stir in milk until mixture forms a soft dough.
  5. 5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. 6. Cut into circles with a biscuit cutter.
  7. 7. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
  8. 8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
