Kung Pao Tofu

Ingredients

  • - 1 block of firm tofu, cubed
  • - 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • - 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • - 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
  • - 3-4 dried red chilies
  • - 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • - 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • - 2 green onions, sliced
  • - 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • - 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • - 1 tablespoon black vinegar
  • - 1 tablespoon sugar
  • - 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • - 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • - Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. 1. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, black vinegar, sugar, and cornstarch to make the sauce. Set aside.
  2. 2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add cubed tofu and stir fry until golden brown on all sides. Remove tofu from the pan and set aside.
  3. 3. In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed and stir fry dried red chilies, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  4. 4. Add diced red and green bell peppers to the pan and stir fry for a few minutes until slightly softened.
  5. 5. Return the tofu to the pan and pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
  6. 6. Add roasted peanuts and green onions to the pan and stir until everything is heated through.
  7. 7. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  8. 8. Serve hot over steamed rice. Enjoy your delicious Kung Pao Tofu!
